HEALTH PROMOTING SCHOOL

Blackness Primary School is a Platinum Award Winning "Health Promoting School”. We develop children's experiences in order that they have an understanding of all aspects of healthy living. We do this to ensure that they are equipped with knowledge, skills and confidence to make positive life long decisions.

Water

Pupils are asked to bring a filled bottle of water each day. Children are then encouraged to sip water throughout the day. We recommend that these bottles are taken home each night, washed and are returned full of fresh water at the start of each day.

Breakfast Club

Pupils can meet with friends and have a nutritional breakfast between 8am and 8.30 am. Activities are arranged for this group between 8am and 9am. An application form to join this group is available from the school.

Tuck Shop

Miss Smith runs a healthy tuck shop each day. Pupils can buy a range of healthy snacks. Items range in price from 10p – 30p. This is a very popular service and helps children to make good life choices for the future.

Snacks and Celebrations

We encourage children to bring a healthy snack to school. Sweets and fizzy drinks are discouraged. To safeguard those pupils with food allergies, we ask that birthday cakes and other confectionary are not handed into school for distribution by school staff.
